We bought her in 2002 from a friend who had taken out the engine, gearbox
and rear diff to use in another car. The body is in fairly good condition with minor surface rust and the interior was really good, considering her age. Half of the parts that we have taken off and stored are 1965 the other half 1966. Although badged as a Fairlane in SA, she is built on the platform of a full size Ford Galaxie. All 1966/7 Fairlane's and Galaxie's had the same basic shape in South Africa. Until late 1967, early 1968 Fairlane's were imported from Canada in CKD {completely knocked down} kit form and assembled at the Ford Plant in Neave, Port Elizabeth. From 1968/9 onwards they came from Australia. |

| 500 series introduced in 1963, 1965 headlights no longer in grille, 1966 new series, twin vertical headlights, 1968 twin headlights horizontal, 1969 indicator lights in bumper, 1970 headlights vertical. Fairlane V8 introduced in 1968, body style changes same at the 500, 6 cylinder engine also available, both models discontinued in 1972. | ||
